SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that in accordance with established protocols, that the Greater Sudbury Cubs Hockey Club has suspended all team activities, until further notice, as a result of one player to date having tested positive for COVID-19.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health as well as Public Health Sudbury & District is requiring all those identified as close contacts in a case of COVID-19, as someone who was fully immunized, to seek testing and self-isolate regardless of their own immunization status.
The player affected is currently asymptomatic or exhibiting mild symptoms and the league and team will continue to monitor his well-being.
The NOJHL had previously incorporated specific COVID-19 protocols including mandatory vaccination for all members of the NOJHL Community including players, staff, officials and billets.
The NOJHL is working in consultation with the league’s independent Chief Medical Officer while the Cubs continue to follow the guidance of Public Health Sudbury & Districts.
The NOJHL will not be identifying the affected individual(s), but will provide an update regarding future games along with the rescheduling of above matchups as information becomes available.
As a result of the suspension of team activities for the Greater Sudbury Cubs, the following NOJHL regular season games have been postponed, with additional games subject to further review:
Thursday, Dec. 2: Soo Eagles @ Greater Sudbury Cubs
Saturday, Dec. 4: Greater Sudbury Cubs @ Soo Eagles
Thursday, Dec. 9: Espanola Express @ Greater Sudbury Cubs
Saturday, Dec. 11: Greater Sudbury Cubs @ Soo Thunderbirds
GAME CHANGES: As a result of Saturday’s postponed contest, some game changes have been made to the league schedule.

Soo Thunderbirds @ Espanola Express (POSTPONED)
Soo Thunderbirds @ Soo Eagles 7 p.m. (Pullar Stadium)
The Soo – Espanola contest will be rescheduled with the date of that make-up game, as well as the other postponed games, will be announced by the NOJHL once they are finalized.
