NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that defenceman Cameron Dutkiewicz (Timmins Rock) along with forwards Cooper Bowman (French River Rapids) and Jack Mortson (Soo Eagles) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Nov. 21.

CAMERON DUTKIEWICZ, (D) TIMMINS ROCK – Spearheading Timmins at both ends of the ice, Dutkiewicz continues to excel for the Rock.

Suiting up for his hometown club, the 20-year-old rearguard blasted home the game-winner in Hearst Friday and dished out a trio of assists overall as the Rock also came away victorious Sunday afternoon vs. Kirkland Lake.

Defensively he helped his side only allow three goals against on the week and only 41 overall, which leads the league in fewest markers given up.

Dutkiewicz has now etched his name on the game sheet in each of the past four outings and is tied for top spot in scoring among NOJHL defencemen with 21, on five goals and a league-best 16 helpers, provided by D-men.

COOPER BOWMAN, (F) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS – Skating in both of French River’s victories during the time frame, the 20-year-old Courtice, Ont., product was instrumental in each of the them.

Bowman began by scoring once and setting up the game-winner Friday in a Rapids home triumph over Kirkland Lake.

One night later, he scored again and doled out a pair of assists, featuring another on the decider as French River rallied against Cochrane.

With points in six straight and pacing all NOJHL players in offensive production, Bowman boasts a league-best 33 points in just 22 outings while all leading the way in helpers with 20.

JACK MORTSON, (F) SOO EAGLES – Hailing from Westland, Mich., the 19-year-old was there when called upon as the Michigan Soo made their NOJHL return to Pullar Stadium.

Hosting Espanola Friday, Mortson provided the game-winning tally and contributed a pair of assists in a decision over visiting Espanola.

He then scored once more and set-up another Saturday during a shootout win over the rival Soo Thunderbirds Saturday.

The Eagles captain shares the team-lead in scoring with 20 points in 17 match-ups on nine goals and 11 assists.
