Soo Eagles captain off to school

Evan Ketner will pass on his final season of junior hockey to play at the Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association level this fall, has confirmed.

A 1996 birth-year forward, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Ketner produced 21 goals, 21 assists, 42 points in 58 games — regular season and playoffs included — for the Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in 2015-2016.

Ketner, who was the Eagles captain, will move on from the Michigan Soo and the NOJHL to play for the Lawrence University Vikings in 2016-2017. Lawrence is based in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Eagles co-coach/general manager Bruno Bragagnolo called Ketner “a character kid who represented the Soo Eagles well both on and off the ice.
