NOJHL names its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that goaltender Justin Sullivan (Blind River Beavers), along with forwards Lucas Caulfield (Soo Eagles) and Nathan Harper (Kirkland Lake Gold Miners) have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending March 8.

Justin Sullivan, (G) Blind River Beavers – Coming just 19 seconds short from posting back-to-back shutouts, Sullivan certainly did his part for the Beavers over the weekend.

The 20-year-old from New Richmond, Que., allowed just the one puck to get past him, in 74 attempts, during the time frame, wrapping up the week with a superb 0.50 goals-against average along with an equally stellar .986 save percentage.

Coming out of the King Heights Academy Prep program in Thornhill, Ont., Sullivan is wrapping up his Jr. A career with 60 NOJHL appearances, including a personal single-season-best nine wins with Blind River on the campaign.

Lucas Caulfield, (F) Soo Eagles – Suiting up for the Eagles’ first two match-ups of the week, the Sault Ste. Marie captain collected consecutive four-point performances in a pair of home ice triumphs.

Hailing from the Illinois community of Palatine, Caulfield had a hat trick and an assist in a win over Hearst, then followed that up with two more tallies, and a couple of helpers, in a result versus French River.

An alumnus of the Windy City Storm hockey system in suburban Chicago, Caulfield paces the Eagles offensively with 56 points in 48 games, including 20 goals. He is just one contest shy of 150 in his time in the league, that has seen him score 56 times and contribute on 89 more.

Nathan Harper, (F) Kirkland Lake Gold Miners – Harper played a pivotal role in a weekend home-and-home sweep of the Timmins Rock and qualify his club for the upcoming NOJHL playoffs, which sees Kirkland Lake earn a berth into a best-of-seven postseason series for the first time since 2019.

The 18-year-old rookie from Markham, Ont., had two assists Saturday, including one on the game-winner in the final moments of overtime, then notched the eventual difference maker Sunday to help the Gold Miners punch their ticket to the playoffs.

Playing his minor hockey with the Markham Waxers U18 AAA side last season, Harper tops Kirkland Lake with 20 goals, featuring a team-high four game-winning efforts, and has dished out eight assists for 28 points in his first 41 league outings.
