NOJHL names its initial Rogers 3 Stars of the Week of the 2026 playoffs

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forwards Logan Stawizynski (Soo Eagles) and Mathieu Comeau (Hearst Lumberjacks), along with goaltender Iain Wintle (Greater Sudbury Cubs), have been named its initial Rogers 3 Stars of the Week of the 2026 playoffs, for the period ending March 22.

Logan Stawizynski, (F) Soo Eagles – Helping Sault Ste. Marie go into Powassan and take the first two games of their best-of-seven match-up on the road, Stawizynski paced the Eagles offensively.

In the opener, the 19-year-old from Fenton, Missouri notched the initial tally of the series and added a later assist as part of the 7-4 victory. He then supplied three more helpers, including one on the power play, and another while the Soo was shorthanded, in a 6-1 Game 2 triumph.

Joining the Eagles out of the CarShield AAA system, where he spent six seasons, Stawizynski was nearly a point-per-game performer in his initial campaign in the NOJHL with 45 in 48 outings, on 23 goals and 22 assists.

Mathieu Comeau, (F) Hearst Lumberjacks – Continuing where he left off in the regular season, the Hearst captain racked up a league-high seven points over the weekend as the Lumberjacks took the first two contests against Espanola to commence their postseason.

The 20-year-old Comeau scored once and aided on one more for his hometown side in the club’s initial victory, then piled up five more points, including a pair of markers, as the Jacks blanked the Paper Kings in Game 2.

An alumnus of the Great North U18 Hockey League’s Kapuskasing Flyers, Comeau has 49 career NOJHL playoff points, in as many games, having found the back of the net on 22 occasions and dishing out assists on 27 more.

Iain Wintle, (G) Greater Sudbury Cubs – Registering his first two NOJHL postseason victories, Wintle was steady as Greater Sudbury gained a two-game lead on Kirkland Lake to start their best-of-seven affair.

In his last season of Jr. A hockey, the netminder, who hails from Bowmanville, Ont., only allowed one late power play marker in each contest to get past him, in sporting a league-best 1.00 goals-against average as well as a sharp .961 save percentage, which is also tops.

Playing his AAA minor hockey previously, with both the Whitby Wildcats and Clarington Toros, Wintle has yet to lose a game in regulation with the Cubs since being acquired by them back in early December. In all, he has a combined record of 11-0-1-2.
