NOJHL names its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Benjamin Pouliot (Soo Eagles), goaltender Bronx Bodnar (Blind River Beavers) and forward Cameron Menard (Espanola Paper Kings) have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 20.

Benjamin Pouliot, (F) Soo Eagles: The 19-year-old from Howell, Mich., was instrumental in helping the Eagles collect five of a possible six points during a three-game weekend road trip.

In all, Pouliot scored three times, including notching a game-winning tally, and dole out an assist, which was on another deciding marker, for the Michigan Soo.

Since his return to the Eagles lineup earlier this month, Pouliot has etched his name on the game sheet in all five match-ups he’s been a part of, with seven points, featuring a pair of winning goals.

Bronx Bodnar, (G) Blind River Beavers: Flawless in his lone start of the week, Bodnar was credited with making 35 saves in posting his first NOJHL shutout, a 3-0 road triumph in Kirkland Lake Friday.

The 18-year-old Richmond Hill, Ont., product has been solid so far in his rookie campaign for Blind River, allowing two, or fewer, goals in five of his first six starts in league play.

Bodnar enters the new week topping all NOJHL netminders in both goals-against average and save percentage at 1.72 and .945, respectively.

Cameron Menard, (F) Espanola Paper Kings: Topping all skaters in goals during the time frame, Menard supplied four in a home ice victory over French River Friday.

He added an assist against the Rapids Saturday to take over the NOJHL scoring lead, giving him 23 points in 14 outings on a dozen tallies and 11 helpers.

Hailing from Carp, Ont., the 18-year-old Menard has already surpassed his goal, assist and point totals from last season, while skating for Blind River.
