ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Espanola Express picked up two goals apiece from Mitchell Lee and Matthew Reynolds as part of a 4-2 come from behind triumph over the Soo Eagles in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Friday at the Regional Recreation Complex.
First period action saw visiting Sault Ste. Marie strike twice to grab a 2-0 cushion after 20 minutes on markers from Kyle Quinn and George Orfanos as the duo both notched their third goals of the season.
Battling back in the middle stanza, Reynolds put Espanola on the board just 13 seconds into the session to make it a one-goal game.
Reynolds then tied it on a power play at 6:06 for his second of the period and third overall.
Moving on to the third, it was Lee who provided the game-winner during a man advantage chance with 8:12 to go.
He then helped secure the victory with a late empty net effort in the final minute to complete the comeback win.
Chase Lammi chipped in with two assists to aid the offensive cause for the Express.
Espanola goaltender Joel Rainville made 26 saves to record the win while Joseph Benedetto handled 31 of 34 in defeat for the Eagles.
