Hektor stops 37 as Blind River gets by Soo Eagles 3-1

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Blind River Beavers rode the 37-save performance of goaltender Myles Hektor to help them defeat the Soo Eagles 3-1 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Pullar Stadium.

Nate Harris staked the Eagles to an early lead in this one as his picked up his fourth goal of the season near the seven-minute mark of the first period.

Blind River drew level with 1:39 left in the session as Mark Bastianello collected his 13th of the campaign.

The Beavers then got the eventual game-winner late in the second stanza on Yianni Liarakos’ team-leading 21st tally.

Another late marker in the final frame allowed the visitors to secure the victory as Dylan McMahon rounded out the night’s scoring with 2:13 to go.

The win for Hektor was his 16th of the season, which ties him for the second most among all NOJHL netminders, as Blind River improved to 18-12-1-0 overall.

Kade Phipps stopped 33 of 36 in defeat for the Eagles who saw their record slip to 15-17-2-0 this season.
