SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League have announced that 2003-forward Darby McCarthy has committed to attend Southern New Hampshire University next season and play NCAA Division III hockey for the Penmen.

The 20-year-old from Whitefish, Montana, joined the Eagles in January from the Powassan Voodoos and in 55 combined NOJHL games scored 18 times and dished out 20 assists for 38 points.

This included nine multi-point performances in league play during 2023-24 campaign.

“Darby was a great addition to our program, after we acquired him from Powassan, at the January 10th roster deadline,” stated Eagles’ general manager Bruno Braganolo.

“He is a hard-working player, with scoring ability, who is responsible in all three zones of the ice,” added Bragagnolo.

Located in Hookset, N.H., the NCAA D-III Southern New Hampshire Penmen compete out of the six-school Northeast 10 men’s hockey conference.
