Eagles extend home win streak to 8 with win over Canadians

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Soo Eagles continue to strive on Pullar Stadium ice as they won their eighth straight home game Friday, rallying to double up the visiting Rayside-Balfour Canadians 4-2 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action.

Rayside-Balfour did begin the contest productively as they began the scoring in the first minute on a Matthew Neault effort.

Kaleb Peldjak then put the visitors up by a pair 8:40 into the middle stanza as he picked up his second of the campaign.

Sault Ste. Marie started their comeback by getting goals just over a minute apart from Rhett Rampinelli and William Casey to knot the affair at 2-2 after two.

Rampinelli then helped set-up Zac McKenna for the game-winner with 11:16 left in the third.

Landon Hubbard would secure the come from behind decision with an empty net effort with 26 seconds to go to round out the scoring.

Chris Lutz dished out two assists for the Eagles to aid their cause.

Kade Phipps made 19 stops to record the win for the Soo while Owen Johansson was the busier of the two netminders seeing 41 shots in defeat.
