2ND STAR: STEFANO DURANTE, COBOURG COUGARS (OJHL) – Netminder Stefano Durante of the Cobourg Cougars led all OJHL goalies with eight victories in nine games played last month.

The third-year netminder continues to provide stellar netminding for the league-leading Cougars who will host the 2017 RBC Cup, Canadian National Junior ‘A’ Championship in the spring.

During nine appearances in October, the 20-year-old native of Brampton, Ont., posted an 8-1-0 record along with a spectacular 1.56 goals against average and .945 save percentage.

Allowing just 14 goals in nine games played, he carried a nine-game winning streak into mid-October before a narrow 2-1 loss to the Wellington Dukes. He would allow more than two goals in a game just three times throughout the time frame and had three, 30-plus-save performances during the month.

Durante currently tops the OJHL with a 1.72 goals-against average while his .933 save mark is third best in the league. He’s also knotted for third overall in victories with 13, just one off the OJHL lead.

3RD STAR: CAM DONALDSON, POWELL RIVER KINGS (BCHL) – The native of McKinney, Texas posted 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in a dozen games for the month.

Donaldson was named the BCHL’s player of the month for October and was a game star six times, including being tabbed the first star on three occasions.

He was held off the scoresheet just twice in the 12 outings and scored the game-winning goal in two contests.

The five-foot-eight-inch, 163-pound forward’s production helped the Kings to a 9-3 mark in October and vaulted them into first place in the Island Division.

Donaldson presently shares fifth place in BCHL scoring with 30 points on 15 markers and boasts as many helpers as well.
