SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Soo Eagles saw Joel Brandinger tally twice, including picking up the game-winner, to help send his side to a 4-1 victory over the Blind River Beavers in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Saturday at Pullar Stadium.
An evenly-played opening saw each team tally once and produce 10 shots on net apiece.
Eric Vanderhoff put the Eagles in flight seven and a half minutes into the match-up as he collected his 22nd league marker of the campaign.
Blind River countered however before the first period was complete when Conrad Solypa notched his second of the season.
Sault Ste. Marie went back on top with the lone goal of the second when Brandinger picked up his 13th as his club carried their slim cushion into the third.
The final session saw the Soo tack on two more in the late going to secure the home ice triumph as Brandinger and Bobby Price both found the back of the net to cap off the night’s scoring.
Hayden Clark dished out two assists to aid the Eagles cause.
The Beavers did out shoot out the Soo 39-32 with Shane Brancato making 38 stops to record the win while Jackson Hjelle suffered the defeat.
