BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Rolling right along, the Blind River Beavers racked up their 15th Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League win in a row Saturday by downing the Soo Eagles 5-1 at Blind River Community Centre.
An early power play helped the Beavers strike first as Andrey Manov banked an attempt off the skate of teammate Evan Fraccaro that eluded Sault Ste. Marie starter Anthony Zolezzi at 2:40.
It was more Blind River a couple of minutes later with Manov converting by pumping one in from the top of the left circle.
Getting one back three minutes into the second period, the Eagles broke out of their own end in transition and saw Cooper Fredericks come down the right wing and pick the left corner on Beavers’ goalkeeper Noah Tegelaar.
Answering back with a pair of late markers, Blind River took a 4-1 lead into the intermission.
Daniel Vasic scored for a ninth straight game at 18:30 before Michael Gallagher notched his 20th of the season, off a tip-in, a minute later.
Moving to the final frame, Clark Furman’s 10th helped secure the home ice victory as he converted from close range with 11:19 to go.
The triumph raises the Beavers’ overall record to 29-8-0-0 and in defeat, the Eagles fall to 20-14-1-1.
