Gaudet shines in Eagles debut

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – New Soo Eagles forward Roman Gaudet made an immediate impact with his new team scoring three times and adding two assists to help propel his side to a convincing 8-1 triumph over the Blind River Beavers Friday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Pullar Stadium.

It didn’t take Gaudet long to make his presence felt as he opened the scoring 58 seconds into the contest.

He then helped set-up Alex DiBacco for his first NOJHL goal, which came on the power play at 6:58 of the first.

Blind River got one back before the frame was complete on Max Khull’s third of season with 65 seconds to go.

Sault Ste. Marie took full control of the game in the middle session tacking on four more markers, including two off the stick Jacob Hernandez while Gaudet and Kendall Huckins added the others.

Gaudet capped off his hat trick nine minutes into the final period before Nate Harris rounded out the scoring in the late going.

Evan Ketner also had a big night offensively for the Eagles picking up three assists.

Jack Deines made 24 saves to pick up the win for the Soo.

Maxwell Barr started for Blind River and suffered the loss allowing four on 21 attempts with Martin Miloslavich giving up the final four in relief on 16 shots.
