Eagles repay Beavers with road win in Blind River

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Two nights after falling to the Blind River Beavers on home ice, the Soo Eagles repaid the favour Friday as they earned an identical 3-2 triumph in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.

Jake Saxton put Sault Ste. Marie in front near the six-minute mark of the contest only to see Caleb Serre notch the equalizer for Blind River at 10:57 as he supplied his 10th of the season.

Serre then struck shorthanded for the lone tally of the middle stanza to put the Beavers up after two periods of play.

An Eagles power play helped them tie it 4:31 into the final frame off the stick of Nick Techel before Jake Lamberty buried the game-winner with 7:41 remaining in regulation.

Anthony Bastianello had two assists in defeat for the Beavers.

Carter McPhail picked up the win for the Soo and Michael Corson suffered the setback for Blind River.
