Beavers’ McMahon; Eagles’ Keller; Canadians’ Woolcott named Eastlink 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that forwards Dylan McMahon of the Blind River Beavers, Kobe Keller of the Soo Eagles and Taylor Woolcott of the Rayside-Balfour Canadians have been named its initial Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for 2018.

DYLAN MCMAHON, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – In two games to commence the New Year, the 18-year-old Kanata, Ont., product racked up five points helping Blind River skate to a pair of victories.

McMahon began by scoring twice, including game-winner, in 7-6 win over Rayside-Balfour before finishing up with another marker and a pair of assists, including one on the difference maker, in 3-2 triumph over Elliot Lake.

Through his first 40 contests in 2017-18, he has tallied 21 times and helped set-up 10 others for 31 points.

His five game-winning goals so far this season tie McMahon for the most among all NOJHL players.

KOBE KELLER, (F) SOO EAGLES – Hailing from Stevens Point, Wis., the 19-year-old Keller has impressed in his first season in the league.

Last week saw him accumulate seven points in a trio of outings helping the Eagles earn three of a possible six points in the standings.

This included his first NOJHL hat trick, which came Saturday at Pullar Stadium vs. the Espanola Express.

Keller, who has etched his name on the scoresheet in 12 of his past 13 contests, is presently tied for fifth in league scoring with 49 points, including 20 goals.

TAYLOR WOOLCOTT (F) RAYSIDE-BALFOUR CANADIANS – Woolcott opened 2018 by notching his first NOJHL hat trick in a match-up with Blind River on Jan. 4.

Then the 20-year-old Mississauga, Ont., native assisted on the game-winner in a narrow 3-2 victory over the Soo Eagles Sunday evening.

Woolcott enters play this week riding a five-game point streak.

He is also sitting second on the Canadians in offensive production with 29 points in 37 games with a dozen markers and 17 helpers, which are all personal single-season highs.
